A roaring success for Lion’s Den & First Mailing!

15 months ago firstMailing based in Glebe Road, Huntingdon was approached by Huntingdon Regional College and asked to assist with their Apprenticeship Week and Lions’ Den.

The aim was to help and prepare the students for their careers, advising in CV writing, interview techniques and presentation skills by competing in the ‘Youngtrepeneur’ competition.

firstMailing Managing Director, Stuart Searle, thought this was a great idea for local students and became one of the Lions, spending a week at Huntingdon Regional College offering advice and judging the students who pitched their business ideas to a panel of 4 Lions from local businesses.

Kristian Brown, a level 3 Business Student at HRC, came second in the competition and made quite an impact.  Stuart believed Kris had great potential but wasn’t quite ready and thought Kris would benefit from another year of studying.  Kris took the constructive feedback and did just that.

Recently, Kris approached the company directly stating that he had listened, completed his studies and was now ready to start his career! So true to his word & impressed by his attitude & approach, Stuart offered Kris a business apprenticeship.

“I am really pleased to be part of this, encouraging young talented individuals to fulfill their career ambitions.” Stuart said. “firstMailing has worked closely with HR College and the Huntingdon Manufacturers Association to inspire future entrepreneurs living locally. Kris will be an asset to our business and has already shown great signs of leadership potential.”
